Congratulations on surviving 2016, we’ve successfully made it in to the new year. Now 2017 is finally upon us, it’s time for those resolutions. Well, we’ve got one hell of a recommendation for you. By all means diet and meditate more, but how about you try to explore more of the amazing clubs and bars in London? We promise it’s more fun then swapping lunch for smoothies, so here’s our list of the Best bars in London to bring in the new year.

Adventure Bar: The Escapologist

2016 has been rough for some, and if you’re looking to escape the memories and start 2017 off with a bang, Adventure bar’s ‘The Escapologist’ is for you. The cocktail menu includes classics, such as Whisky Sours, as well more exotic takes, such as the Chocolate Orange Negroni. Plus, the London bar’s ‘Ziggy’s Stardust’ cocktail, which contains Bacardi Carta Oro, lychee liqueur, orange juice, dark rum and fresh lemon juice, pays tribute to one of the greatest stars lost in 2016.

Mamounia Lounge

Mamounia Lounge demonstrates the wonderful diversity of London’s nightlife scene, and for those resolving to make the most of the top bars London has to offer, we’d recommend a visit. Arguably one of the best lounges in London, both venues offer an incredible Middle Eastern inspired drinking experience. Start the new year in style with their extravagant signature cocktail, the ‘Gold Digger’, a combination of passion fruit and vanilla vodka and accompanied by a shot of champagne topped with gold leaf flakes. If you’d like the full Middle eastern experience, check out their Shisha lounge, complete with underfloor heating to take the edge off the chilly January weather.

If you think last year was a Circus, wait until you experience the Trapeze Bar and Club in London. With the explicit aim to ‘Excite and Delight,’ this London bar is definitely one to add to the list. Their cocktail menu is truly impressive, with signatures such as the ‘Circus Tidings’ which includes Vodka, Cointreau, lemon juice, cranberry juice and all spice syrup, and the ‘Big Top Blowback’ made of Vodka, apple juice, lime and chilli vanilla syrup. Relax and be thrilled by the impressive circus performances in the upstairs bar, or move to their basement for a proper London club night.

Callooh Callay

For those of us who have resolved to read more each year and never quite make it, a night at Callooh Callay might just get you started. If the sheer number of awards this Lewis Carol themed London bar has won, including ‘Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar’ at Tales of the Cocktail 2016, is anything to go by, this might be one of the best bars in London. Their renowned cocktail menu includes specials such as the ‘Miracle Court,’ a combination of Armagnac, amontillado sherry, poached pear syrup and orange bitters and the Swallowtail, which includes Tanqueray gin, amontillado sherry, butterfly sorrel, hazelnut orgeat, blackberry, anise and lemon.

The Book Club

If you’re looking for a London bar that really has it all, The Book Club in Shoreditch is for you. Drinking really is just one of the activities this venue has to offer (although they do that very well). They host an impressive range of boozy art events during the day, and at night the venue transforms. Their hugely popular ‘Drinking and Thinking’ event is perfect for those who have vowed to be more ‘cultured’ in 2017, but don’t feel it’s appropriate to smuggle alcohol in to conventional seminars. The Book Club’s ‘Hot Buttered Coconut Rum’, a mix of Malibu rum, Cinnamon & allspice, will definitely warm you up in the cold winter months.

It’s common knowledge that Sketch is one of the top bars in London, and if you haven’t got around to going yet, 2017 is the year to do it. The interior is truly impressive – even going to the bathroom is an experience. Their afternoon tea is delightful, and if you’re looking for more boozy culture, watch out for their collaboration with the Victoria and Albert museum. We’d recommend sipping on a ‘Far from Vanilla’, a cocktail of Hendricks Gin, lemon juice, pineapple, vanilla syrup, elderflower, hibiscus tea, vanilla tea and rosemary.

We reckon exploring these London bars will get your 2017 off to a great start. However, there’s far more where these come from and 2017 is jam packed with new and exciting events in London’s best bars and clubs.
