Whoever invented the happy hour deserves a medal. That blissful hour (or sometimes entire afternoon) where drinks are cheaper, people are happier and cocktails are tastier really makes our week. And it’s good news for you Londoners. There’s some incredible happy hours in the Capital, perfect for when payday looks a little too far over the horizon and the student loan just won’t stretch until the end of the month. Come and make the most of them! Here’s our top three faves, what are yours?

Simmons

We don’t know how they do it, but Simmons just aren’t charging London prices in their happy hour. They just aren’t.

From 4pm to 9pm Sunday to Friday you can grab a bottle of Wine for a tenner, bottled beers for £2.50 and £2.50 spirits and mixers. In central London, it’s genuinely hard to find better than this.

Plus, the prices aren’t the only reason to go. Simmons bars come with a healthy dose of 90’s nostalgia – think retro vandalised school desks, Mario ‘64 and crazy skull shaped disco balls. The venues tend to be small, and they’re unsurprisingly always lively (they can get a little too busy in the evenings). But, for a cheap, tounge and cheek, fun night out – they’re the place to go.

Adam & Eve

This one’s a little further out of Central London, but damn is it worth it. £3 house wines and select ales and pints? Can’t argue with that.

Oh, and if all that alcohol makes you hungry, Adam and Eve is serving some proper cornish cuisine. Burgers, pasties, you name it. It’s huge too, so bring all your mates and make an evening of it.

Thirst Bar

Thirst bar don’t just have a happy hour – they have stupid hour. No, not because it’s at a particularly early hour of the day (it’s not). It’s because the drinks are stupidly cheap. Get all of your favourite cocktails at stupid hour for just £6. Mojitos, Caipirhanas, Brambles, Cosmopolitans, Pina Coladas, Dark and Stormys – you name ‘em, they’ve got ‘em. Plus, when stupid hour is over, it just goes in to happy hour, so you can keep on getting reasonably priced drinks. Sounds good to us.
