Well that’s it. 2017 is nearly over and waiting just around the corner is that cheeky New Year called 2018.  Hopefully you’ve had as awesome a year as we have and you’ve eaten enough mince pies to need to dance some off in style. There are some amazing things happening to kick off the celebrations and as you’d expect, we have a few suggestions for you if you are in London for the New Year….

In the past , you used to be able to just rock up at Trafalgar Square to join the New Year celebrations . These days it’s all a bit organised and tickets for the main fireworks display on the river sold out a while back, so here’s our recommendations:

1) Strong Room – A New Year

Strong Room - A New Year

Possibly the most unsubtle Star Wars tie-in but we love it because of that!  DJ Yoda (naturally) will be spinning the decks in the Shoreditch legend that is Strongroom for a night in a galaxy far, far away. Dress in the Jedi / Force theme and although there’s tickets on the door, advance tickets are cheaper.

2) New Year’s Day Parade

New Year’s Day Parade

Now if you don’t completely overdo it on NYE, it is well worth saving some brain energy for London’s New Year Parade. With over 8000 performs and wait for it – 500,000(!) spectators, this is the day event we’ve all been waiting for. The parade runs from Green Park at midday to Parliament Square at 3pm, so even if you’ve had a big one, you can make the later part of it and experience London at its cosmopolitan best.

3) BATTERSEA BIG TOP at Battersea Arts Centre

BATTERSEA BIG TOP at Battersea Arts Centre

Something a little different?  The wonderfully odd Battersea Arts Centre (South of the river near Clapham Junction) is running this circus themed night for fourth year in a row. What we love about BAC is you nearly always meet some cool folks there. It definitely attracts a laid back, fun crowd. The circus night will have some suitably freaky performers including a contortionist and with Irish gig music from Fiddle Paradiddle topped off with DJ Harry Feel until 2am, you can’t really go wrong. They invite you to dress up so get your fancy circus costumes down. No basic, scary clowns :O

And finally, because we care about you and guess you *might* need it, here’s a great list of simple recipes to help cure your hangover 😉

There you go 🙂

And we all wish you a Happy New Year and the best for 2018!!!
